Grading and dirt work in Brunswick County

Dirt work on a high water table

This county is low, flat, and wet, and pretending otherwise is how pads fail. Water here doesn't drain down so much as it needs somewhere to go sideways. That means swales that actually connect, driveways crowned from day one, and pad heights set with the wet season in mind rather than the week the machine showed up. We deal with this ground every week; the difference shows up the first February after you build.

Where we draw the line: if the low spot on your lot is a regulated wetland, grading isn't the fix and nobody should sell you one. We'll say so on the walk.

What we do

• Rough grading: post-clearing shaping so the parcel drains and machines can work it
• Drainage fixes: swales and regrades for yards that hold water after every storm

We stop at rough grade. Finish grading and landscaping are a different trade, and we'd rather hand you clean subgrade than pretend to be it.
